The Sponsor: Fischer Frischman Family

This groovy art shelter, inspired by vibes of the Groove Lounge founder Betsy Frischman Fischer, is located in the city of Sderot just next to the JNF Indoor Playground. Sderot is a city in the Western Negev, Israel. It has a population of over 33,500 and is situated less than one kilometer from the border with the Gaza Strip.  Sderot has been targeted by Gazan terrorist rockets since the early 2000’s.

About this Art Shelter:

The donor for this JNF Art Shelter decoration is Mr. Peter Fischer. He had it decorated in honor of his wife, Betsy, who has been the leader of the JNF Gaza Envelope Task Force, raising money for this bomb shelter decoration project, among other things.  Betsy was the owner of the Groove Lounge in NJ, USA for many years: a “nightclub for kids”, where she produced hundreds of joyful parties for kids from her area. When asked why he chose to contribute to this project, and use this design, Peter responded: “I just wanted to find a special birthday present for my wife Betsy,  and saw the information about the program and thought  – what better gift could I get for my wife?”.
