Tel Jama junction, along the main artery of the Gaza Envelope region – Road 232 – is situated just under 6 kms from the border with the Gaza Strip. This shelter is opposite an ancient hill – also known as Tel Gamma (תל גמה) or Tel Re’im (תל רעים). Tel Jama is famous for two significant archaeological discoveries: an Assyrian structure, probably a palace, from the Assyrian occupation of the northern Kingdom of Israel, and a grain storage facility from the time of the Ptolemaic Kingdom.
