Flying Dog Art Shelter ~ Shokeda ~ Diane and Cliff Faber

The Sponsor: Diane and Cliff Faber

Shokeda is a religious moshav in southern Israel. Located approximately six kilometres west of Netivot, seven kilometers east of the border with the Gaza Strip. It covers 6,000 dunams, and falls under the jurisdiction of Sdot Negev Regional Council. The moshav was founded by the Jewish Agency for Moroccan Jewish immigrants.

In the late winter months, Shokeda becomes a tourist attraction due to the multitude of wild red poppy flowers that carpet the landscape.

About this Art Shelter:

Our beautiful 19 year old cockapoo Lizzie had always been the “rock” of our family. Whenever our children or now adult children needed special care or an encouraging hug, Lizzie was always there to provide comfort, love, security and a feeling of safety to our family. Our donation of a painted bomb shelter in Lizzie’s honor was made to offer all children living along the Gaza border that same sense of safety and security even in times of conflict. It is our hope that the “Lizzie” bomb shelter brings peace to all families living in Israel; especially to the young families living on the border.
