Pergola Art Shelter ~ Shokeda ~ Levkoff Family

The Sponsor: Levkoff Family

Shokeda is a religious moshav in southern Israel. Located approximately six kilometres west of Netivot, seven kilometers east of the border with the Gaza Strip. It covers 6,000 dunams, and falls under the jurisdiction of Sdot Negev Regional Council. The moshav was founded by the Jewish Agency for Moroccan Jewish immigrants.

In the late winter months, Shokeda becomes a tourist attraction due to the multitude of wild red poppy flowers that carpet the landscape.

About this Art Shelter:

Some words from the donors ❤️

“The idea of ‘dressing’ a bomb shelter in Israel was a truly spectacular anniversary gift from our daughters, Logan and Cameron and their families. And because we wanted this to represent the place we all gathered together throughout the summers, we decorated ‘it’with the furniture we treasured–the stone table with 8 chairs, a symbol of our many outdoor meals and long significant conversations, a lone bicycle, because some of us biked for exercise, and most significantly I wanted to redraw the pergola we sat under–a ceiling of growing beautiful wisteria everyday as we gazed at the blue sky with floating white clouds. It was heavenly.. and something our family will always remember.”
